My research took me to Biotin (Vitamin H) first. Since I had never heard of vitamin H, this was all new ground for me. Biotin, which is considered to be a B-complex vitamin, is said to help improve brittle nails, thin hair and insufficient eyelashes, among other things.
A so-called “adequate intake” of Biotin for an adult 19 and older is 30 mcg daily, or about the amount in a standard multi-vitamin. However, that amount is also considered only 10% of the recommended daily allowance.
Biotin is water-soluble, and can be found in many foods, including bananas, whole grains, brewers’ yeast, pecans, almonds and sardines. It can also be found in egg yolks (but egg whites contain a protein that prohibits Vitamin H absorption, so avoid consuming both together.)

It’s essential to get enough B-complex vitamins for energy, brain and cardiovascular health – but when it comes to growing thicker, longer lashes – some B vitamins are better than others. Vitamin B3, also known as Niacin, is said to stimulate eyelash growth, prevent lashes from drying out and improve blood flow to hair follicles, leading to stronger and healthier lashes.
Foods rich in vitamin B3 include beef, chicken breast, salmon, tilapia, tuna, eggs, avocados, asparagus, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, whole grains, sunflower seeds and peanuts,

The B vitamins listed above are all water-soluble. This means that excess amounts are excreted each day, and that levels of each vitamin must be replenished daily.
